“And David enquired at the LORD, saying, Shall I pursue after this troop? Shall I overtake them? And he answered him, Pursue: for thou shalt surely overtake them, and without fail recover all.” 1 Samuel 30:8 (KJV)
There is a rightful inheritance that belongs to us because we are God’s sons and daughters! However, many of us are going without the very things that belong to us because they’ve been stolen by the enemy. & we are tired, hurting, and ready to give up.
The Lord wants us to be encouraged that we can retrieve all that has been taken from us when we shift into pursuing and engaging Him!
To pursue means to follow in order to overtake, capture, kill, and to chase.
To engage means to occupy the attention or efforts of something or someone.
When we pursue and engage the presence of the Lord, we tap into His mind, wisdom, and will for our lives! He gives us the strength, the hope, and the strategy we need to overtake our enemies!
Like David and his men when they returned to Ziklag to find that their camp had been raided, and all the women and children were taken as captives, we can find ourselves distraught, angry, exhausted, and discouraged.
But David did something interesting. He encouraged himself in the Lord, and then he inquired of God about what he should do to retrieve what belonged to them.
He took himself out of the pity party he was in, and he strengthened himself with the goodness of God! Then, he asked the Lord if he should pursue after his enemies.
God responded with a resounding yes!
“Pursue them” the Lord said. “For you shall surely overtake them and without fail recover all.”
Be encouraged that God is a God of restoration and redemption! Everything that belongs to you will be yours, but you have a part to play.
Pursue God’s presence. Engage Him in worship + prayer. Strengthen yourself in His might. & then ask Him for the strategy to go and get your stuff back,
Surely, you shall recover all!
Amen!
